Taking Pets On A Timeshare Vacation
Dec 21, 2012
Many travelers developed a special bond with their pets and, as a result, do not want to leave them at home with pet sitters, friends, or at kennels when traveling. While some resorts allow guests to bring pets, many don’t.
Conflicts occur between timeshare unit owners and renters when renters bring their pets and a resort denies checking the guests in. It is important not to rely on the pet-related information received from a timeshare unit owner as many resorts would allow only certain types, weight, size, or quantity of pets. Moreover, there may be additional fees assessed when a pet stays at a unit or a resort may have a limited number of units designated for guests with pets.
Therefore, it is recommended to check pet-related information directly with the resort prior to renting a unit. Other things to keep in mind are to keep vaccination documents in order, especially when traveling to a foreign country as well as to make arrangements with airlines if traveling by air.
