Accepting Credit Card Payments For Timeshare Rentals Directly From Renters
Jul 09, 2012
Timeshare owners beware: if you accept a credit card payment for timeshare rental directly from the renter using any credit card payment processor, the renter may later contest the charge with the credit card company and you will be issued a chargeback. It will be very hard to fight this chargeback since the charge was made for services and not for the sale of tangible goods. As a result, you may end up renting it out for free. Unfortunately, these incidents happen more frequently now as renters with fraudulent mindset realize they can take an advantage of the situation. To protect yourselves, use escrow services when renting timeshare properties.
